Background Recipe story & origin

Complete carne asada plate with all the sides.

The carne asada plate is the standard Mexican restaurant meal-grilled marinated beef with rice, beans, and fresh accompaniments. The steak is typically skirt or flank, marinated in lime, garlic, and chiles. Unlike carne asada for tacos (where the meat is the star), this is a composed plate meant as a complete dinner with sides. Every Mexican restaurant has a version.
