Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients

    Add apples, sugar, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, and salt to saucepan.

  2. Soften the apples

    Cook on medium-low 12 to 15 minutes until apples soften fully.

  3. Break down the apples

    Use spoon to break down fruit for thicker syrup.

  4. Reduce over heat

    Continue cooking until syrup coats spoon.

  5. Serve

    Use over pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, or ice cream.

Chef's notes

Add teaspoon of vanilla for rounded flavor.

For smoother syrup, blend and strain.

Works exceptionally well with cinnamon based dishes.
